To understand exactly how Mochi entered the OLLY-verse we need to take it back to a trip to Asia that we’ll never forget.
A Trip to Remember
In 2023, a small crew of women from OLLY's Innovation Incubator Team took an inspiration trip around Asia (specifically Tokyo, Kyoto and Seoul)—the highly-revered epicenter of best-in-class beauty, design & wellness.
While there, our Ollies were introduced to mochi—small, smooth cake-like delicacies made from glutinous rice flour. Their curiosity to learn more about its history and place in modern culture consumed the rest of their trip. They fell in love with the way mochi is both deeply rooted in tradition and on the cutting edge of innovation. It’s unexpected and comforting at the same time.
Seeing mochi-wrapped fruit was the unlock. We knew if we could pack our science-backed wellness benefits into a smooth, pillowy mochi wrapping—we'd have something delightful, irresistible and routine-ready.
