October is Menopause Awareness Month, and we're marking it by sharing some real talk from women’s real experiences in OLLY's first-ever research survey.   In partnership with Carrot Fertility - New Window and conducted by Ipsos - New Window, we surveyed 3,000 American women aged 35-54 to understand the real impact of perimenopause and menopause on their daily lives, careers and well-being.

The Goods Inside

  • The Treatment Gap Everyone’s Talking About
  • Where women are really getting their health information (spoiler: it's not from healthcare providers).
  • What happens when women seek medical help for menopause symptoms?
  • OLLY’s Commitment to Breaking Down Barriers

The survey reveals the lived experiences of women navigating perimenopause and menopause, highlighting a glaring need for better.

Better care, better advocacy and better support during this often-overlooked life stage. If you’ve ever felt dismissed or misunderstood in your perimenopause or menopause experience, know that we see you—and these findings prove you're far from alone.

In case you're new here, OLLY has been championing women's health since 2015, and we've been working tirelessly to destigmatize and normalize topics that many would normally consider taboo. We’re very proud to report we're not just talking the talk—we're walking the walk with action and intention. But before we get into all that, let’s get into these juicy results.

More women learn about menopause on social media than in medical settings

The top-line findings1:

  • 70% of menopausal women deal with mood and mental health changes, but only 30% have sought or received support.
  • 45% of working women say menopause symptoms report some impact on their job performance.
  • 84% of women who sought treatment for menopause symptoms found it helpful.
  • Only 11% of workplaces offer any formal menopause support.
  • Two out of five women seeking healthcare report negative experiences – either being dismissed, minimized, or not taken seriously.
  • More women hear about menopause on social media (45%) than in medical settings (34%)

And so much more. Let’s break it down a bit, shall we? This one’s worth the scroll, promise.

Here's what we learned:

83% of women recognize menopause symptoms, but finding trustworthy information feels impossible. Nearly one-third of women surveyed say there just aren't enough resources. Which begs the question: Where do we turn? What does feel trustworthy? According to the report, 45% of women are turning to TikTok and Instagram over their doctor's office (34%) for answers.1 We’re the first to point out that this should not be the case, yet here we are.

70% of women report that menopause affects their mood and mental health, yet only 30% seek or receive support.1

The workplace disconnect is real.

Nearly half say menopause is affecting their work, yet most workplaces act like it doesn't exist. But when employers do step up? 78% of women say it makes them think better of them.1

The good news:

When women do find the right treatment, it works. 84% of women who got help found it beneficial.1 The problem isn't that solutions don't exist—it's that too many women are being dismissed or not taken seriously by healthcare providers.

We’re not just listening—we’re leading. At OLLY, we've implemented comprehensive menopause policies for our own employees, including access to office wellness rooms, flexible hours for sleep disruption, desk fans for temperature regulation, and specialized care through our partnership with Carrot. We were among the first companies to pioneer these efforts—because we believe in meeting women where they’re at, and we’re big on practicing what we preach.

We’re also making space for hard conversations. Empowering each other to speak out. Creating safe spaces in every room. And doing everything in our power to show up for women. Every single day.

The work doesn’t stop there. We recently published our first clinical study2 on our Mellow Menopause supplement, investing in the science that can improve your symptoms and help you feel better during this transition.

Say more. What else? We've got ambitious plans for 2026 and beyond as we continue breaking down barriers through destigmatizing content that normalizes the conversation, events that strengthen our community, science-backed products that improve your symptoms, and so much more.

Conclusion

This survey is one more step in the right direction, but we’re just getting started.  Because you deserve so much better than being told it's “just part of getting older."
